Jacob Trouba out at least a month in huge Rangers blow

The Rangers’ injury problems just got a whole lot worse.

Jacob Trouba left Tuesday’s 5-2 loss to the Devils with an upper-body injury and on Wednesday the Rangers announced the defenseman would be out four-to-six weeks because of it.

It’s just the latest hit for the Rangers, who played Tuesday’s game without star winger Artemi Panarin (lower body) and promising rookie defenseman K’Andre Miller (upper body), who have both been tabbed as day-to-day. The Rangers are also without center Filip Chytil, who is in the midst of his own four-to-six week recovery from an upper-body injury.

Trouba, whose regular partner was Miller, was averaging 21:40 of ice time through 14 games, the second-highest clip of all skaters behind fellow blue liner Adam Fox.

Veteran defenseman Jack Johnson has been out with a groin strain but coach David Quinn said on Monday he was hopeful Johnson could begin practicing again this week.
