An Illinois mother of two was found dead inside her car on Valentines Day — allegedly killed by her ex-husband who was later charged with the crime, a report said.
Suspect Jose Alvarado-Ramirez had called police to report his ex, 29-year-old Meztli Galindo, was unresponsive inside a car parked in the city of Waukegan, authorities told NBC Chicago.
Galindo was declared dead on scene, police said.
Police questioned Alvarado-Ramirez, later charging him with first-degree murder, the report said.
A motive for the slaying was not immediately known.
He was arraigned last Wednesday and held on $2 million bail.
A GoFundMe page set up for Galindo’s family describes her as a generous, doting mother.
“She was a kind spirit who helped others whether they were a friend or a stranger and no matter how long they had been in her life,” the page read.
The page continued: “She was a devoted mother who only wanted to be the best for her kids and was actively trying to further herself and continue her education.”
Her two children are now being cared for by her mother.
