The Murray State Racers continue to impress and have now started the season 5-0 after defeating Eastern Illinois 41-27. The Racers have been rushing the ball at a high rate, totaling 814 yards in five games. They’re also scoring 30 points per game behind quarterback Preston Rice who has thrown six touchdowns and four interceptions and completed just 48.2 percent of his attempts.
Murray State won its fifth straight game of the spring last week, taking down Eastern Illinois at home 41-27. The Racers fell behind by 14 points in the middle of the third quarter but rallied with 28 unanswered points to escape with the win.

When former Kentucky special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach Dean Hood was hired as head coach, he brought with him 30 years of experience at several other stops. Saturday will be the 54th meeting between Austin Peay and Murray State with the Racers leading the all-time series, 36-17 and in gamse played in Clarksville, 15-11. However, recent history in the series has been in favor of the Govs. After winning 22 of 25 meetings from 1981 to 2013, the Racers have now dropped four of the last six to the Govs, including each of the last three.
