NYC woman killed after drunk friend crashes into truck, cops say

A 30-year-old BMW passenger was killed when her friend behind the wheel drunkenly crashed into a truck on the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn, police said.

Karen Diaz died when pal Mark Dookhan, also 30, heading west on the expressway, slammed the 2013 black 535-I BMW sedan into the rear of a 2000 white Freightliner truck, driven by a 46-year-old male, near Exit 17 at 92nd Street in Bay Ridge, cops said.

EMS workers pronounced Diaz, of Staten Island, dead on scene.

Dookhan, also of Staten Island, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in stable condition.

He was later hit with charges including driving while intoxicated — after a previous conviction for the same offense within the past 10 years — and refusal to take a breathalyzer test, according to cops.

Both vehicles stayed on scene, and the truck driver was unharmed, police said.
