Tim Tebow’s first year of marriage to former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has been unique to say the least.
“We don’t really know what it’s like to be married outside of COVID [haha],” Demi-Leigh and Tim recently told The Post in an email.
“Although the pandemic has scattered a lot of sadness, we are very grateful to have had a lot of time together, especially within our first year of marriage, and to establish routine.”
After tying the knot in Nel-Peters’ native South Africa last January, the couple has been savoring family time, which has included special moments with their three fur-babies: Paris the Dalmatian, Bernese Mountain dog Chunk and a Golden Retriever named Kobe.
“We’re especially grateful to have been able to watch the Tebow Pack grow up, as well,” Demi-Leigh, 25, and Tim, 33 said of the pups, who celebrated their first birthdays in January.
Recently, Demi-Leigh and Tim – who announced his retirement from baseball last month – teamed up with the holistic pet food and treats brand, “I and love and you,” to give back to local animal shelters.
“The collaboration was a natural fit for us and ‘I and love and you’ as we both have a passion for supporting pets and recognize the abundance of love and joy they bring to our families. The partnership was built on the idea that our pets are an essential part of our family,” Demi-Leigh and Tim said.
“We want to shine a light on the support and companionship pets bring us. Most recently, we helped ‘I and love and you’ spread the word about the ‘Thank You Fur Being A Friend’ campaign, which celebrates all of the joy, companionship, fun, and funny moments our pets have provided us throughout 2020 and into 2021,” the couple added.
Demi-Leigh and Tim also noted that for “every story our followers share on Instagram about how their pets have impacted their life, ‘I and love and you’ will donate 10 meals to Dalmatian Rescue of Southern Florida,” which is a shelter “near and dear” to their hearts.
Looking back at their time in quarantine, Demi-Leigh and Tim believe the most important lesson they’ve learned is the lasting impact that small acts can have.
“For us, spending quality time together is essential for our well-being. We truly believe that we are built for community and togetherness, and although it’s more difficult with COVID and the challenges that it has brought, it’s more important than ever to connect with people and to reach out and support one another,” Demi-Leigh and Tim said.
“It may seem small and simple, but the act of reaching out to a friend or a loved one can go a long way and really could be the difference in someone having a good day and someone having a great day,” they added.
